Your new Chief of Police Randy Fenn

On March 10, 2017, Fairfield Police Captain Randy Fenn was appointed the Interim Police Chief of the Fairfield Police Department.  Chief Fenn began his career in law enforcement as a Police Officer in 1991 with the Concord Police Department.  He was promoted to Sergeant in 2001 and was then hired by the Truckee Police Department in 2006 as a Division Commander.  Chief Fenn was hired by the Fairfield Police Department as a Lieutenant in 2012 and assigned to the Patrol and Traffic Bureaus.  He worked on a number of special projects and facilitated the creation of the Department’s Homeless Intervention Team.  In 2014, Chief Fenn was promoted to Captain and served the Support Services Division for two years before transitioning back to the Operations Division.  In addition to his police experience, Chief Fenn holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees and completed executive education at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the California Peace Officers’ Association.
 
Chief Fenn enjoys being part of the Fairfield community and can found regularly attending church, school, and sporting events here with his with wife and kids.

The City of Fairfield has contracted with Ralph Anderson & Associates to conduct a professional, nationwide search for a permanent Police Chief.  The entire process is estimated to take about six months.  Interim Chief Fenn looks forward to participating in the recruitment and the opportunity to become the permanent Police Chief for the City of Fairfield.  
 
On Thursday, May 4, 2017, we are hosting a Coffee with a Cop Event at Truffle Berries CafĂ© and Dessert Bar located at 731 Texas Street in Downtown Fairfield.  The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and run until 7:30 p.m.  This will be a special Meet the Chief edition of Coffee with a Cop so stop by and meet Chief Fenn, along with officers from a number of units within the police department.
