2 Juveniles Arrested Following Robbery, Shooting

Two Fairfield teenagers were arrested Friday afternoon, April 14, after they were identified as being responsible for a robbery and shooting the night prior.  The incident started Thursday evening, April 13, when the victim in this crime went to the 400 Block of Tulip Street to sell a gaming system.  The victim had agreed to meet the "purchaser" of the system through an online forum.

When the victim arrived with the game system, he was approached by the suspect, who pulled out a handgun and demanded the property.  The victim turned over the property but then a struggle ensued and the suspect shot the victim twice.  The suspect then fled with the game system.

The victim transported himself to the hospital after sustaining non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives from the Investigations Bureau were able to develop the suspect in the case as a 16 year old Fairfield resident.  They tracked the suspect to a motel in Fairfield where he was arrested Friday afternoon.  He was in the company of a 17 year old Fairfield resident.

The 16 year old was arrested for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and violation of probation.  The 17 year old was arrested for possessing a concealed firearm, possessing stolen property, and possessing a controlled substance for sale.  The victim is expected to recover from his injuries.

The Fairfield Police Department would like to remind people buying or selling items from online apps, including Craigslist, Facebook, and Offerup, to be cautious and conduct the transactions in well-lit, public locations, such as shopping area parking lots or our parking lot here at the Police Department.  If a deal is too good to be true, it probably is.
