Update on Homicide Investigation - 1700 Block of West Texas Street

***UPDATE 5/1/17***
Detectives from the Fairfield Police Investigations Bureau have contacted the man responsible for the April 27, 2016 shooting on West Texas Street.  Through the investigation, detectives learned the decedent, 20 year old Fairfield resident Alexander Itzigheine, went to the business and confronted a group of patrons on the back patio, pulling out a handgun and threatening them.  42 year old Fairfield resident Keith Lewis fled into the business.  Itzigheine entered through a different door with his gun still drawn.  Lewis then pulled his own gun and shot Itzigheine.  Lewis fled from the business.

Detectives obtained a murder warrant for Lewis’s arrest over the weekend, and he was arrested Sunday afternoon.  After reviewing all of the evidence in the case and consulting with the Solano County District Attorney’s Office, it was decided Lewis will not be charged for the murder as this appears to be a case of self-defense.  Lewis could still face charges related to the possession of the firearm.

A booking photo will not be available.
