Arrest Made in the March 14, 2017 Homicide of Raymond McDonald

****UPDATE May 16, 2017****

After a lengthly investigation, Detectives from the Fairfield Police Department’s Investigations Bureau, working in partnership with the California Department of Justice’s Bureau of Forensic Services, have identified a suspect in this case.  On May 16, 2017, at about 2:00 p.m. detectives served an arrest warrant in the 2400 block of Lighthouse Court in Fairfield.  

Jefferson Tara, a 20-year-old Fairfield Resident, was located and arrested without incident.  He was booked at the Solano County Jail for Murder and Attempted Murder.

The Victim in this case has been identified as Raymond Lee McDonald, a 51 year-old Fairfield resident.

On Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at about 9:45 p.m. the Fairfield Police Dispatch Center received a call of a shooting that had just occurred in the 1300 block of West Texas St.  The caller reported that one victim had been shot.  Fairfield Police officers responded along with Fairfield Fire who began to administer lifesaving efforts.  The victim was transported to a local trauma center where he later succumbed to his injuries. 

The Fairfield Police Department's Investigations Bureau responded and is leading this investigation.  The identification of the male victim is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.

This is an active investigation and no further information is available at this time.  We will update this release as information becomes available.
