Fairfield selects new Chief of Police

The Fairfield Police Department is pleased to announce that today, Fairfield City Manager David White named Interim Chief of Police Randy Fenn as Fairfield’s new Chief of Police. Fenn has served as interim chief since March 2017 following the retirement of Joseph Allio. The announcement was made to a crowd of department members who welcomed the news this afternoon.

According to White, “We conducted a nationwide search to find the best person to lead our Police Department forward, and to Fairfield’s great fortune the top candidate comes from within our ranks. Randy has already become a valued member of the City’s management team and has a genuine respect for community-oriented policing and government.”

Fenn has more than 25 years of law enforcement experience, and came to the Fairfield Police Department in 2012 as a lieutenant, after serving with departments in Concord and Truckee. In 2014, Fenn was promoted to captain. Fenn holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Relations, and earned distinction as a Master of Science in Criminal Justice.

Fenn’s service in various size communities and in virtually every level of command, as well as his focused education provides the very experiences, knowledge, and education that Fairfield is seeking. His service on nonprofit boards and professional committees help inform his broad view of issues and keen sense of fairness.

“I look forward to continuing to work with the women and men of Fairfield Police Department and build on our reputation for partnering with our community to address public safety and quality of life issues,” said Fenn. “It is especially gratifying for me to serve in the place where my family and I call home.”

Certain terms of Fenn’s appointment are on the July 25, 2017 City Council Agenda for approval.
