Fairfield Police Community Education Forum-Active Shooter

Fairfield Police Department August 2017
Community Education Forum Topic: Active Shooter Response

The term "active shooter" used to be known only in law enforcement circles. These days it is commonly used in breaking news alerts to describe a person, sometimes more than one person acting together, actively engaged in killing or trying to kill people. Most times these events occur in confined and well-populated areas like schools, shopping malls, and other so-called "soft targets." They frequently involve guns, but sometimes other weapons like knives, cars, and trucks are used to exact carnage.

"Active Shooter" will be the topic of the Fairfield Police August Community Education Forum. Join us as our experts discuss how you can detect signs of workplace violence before it erupts, the truths and myths about active shooters, how to react if you ever find yourself in the middle of indiscriminate violence, and what to expect from first responders.
