Arrest Made in Afternoon Shooting

On August 11, 2017, at approximately 3:30PM, Fairfield Police received multiple calls regarding a shooting in the 3500 block of Nelson Road. Officers responded and located a crime scene with witnesses to the event, while other officers canvassed the area for those involved. During the investigation it was determined the adult male victim was transported to a local hospital by a private party. Officers responded to the hospital and located the victim, along with witnesses who were present at the shooting. The victim’s injuries are serious, but are not believed to be life threatening.
From the officers search of the area and the initial witness statements provided by citizens, one subject was detained and later arrested. Manuel Rodrigues, a 21-year-old Fairfield Resident has been arrested for attempted murder, shooting from a vehicle, violation of his Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) and several weapons violations.
At this time, it is believed there are no other shooting suspects outstanding. We are asking any witnesses to the shooting who have not spoken to the police to please contact the Fairfield Police Investigations at (707) 428-7600.
