*****08/17/17 8:30 pm - Update on Michigan St. Incident*****

***UPDATE 8/17/2017 at 8:30 PM***

At approximately 8:30 PM, following teargas deployment by the Fairfield Police SWAT team, a male and female exited the Michigan Street residence and were safely detained. Officers then cleared the home and secured it.

Nearby residents that voluntarily evacuated may return home. 

This incident has transitioned to an investigative phase, and no additional information will be released this evening. We anticipate providing an update sometime late tomorrow morning.

 At approximately 8:30 PM, following deploying teargas by the pier for police SWAT team, a male and female exited the Michigan Street residence and we're safe we detained. Officers cleared to go home and secured it.

 

Is it incident is progressing to an investigative phase and Noah further information is available at this time. 



***UPDATE 8/17/2017 7:54 pm*** The Fairfield Police SWAT Team will be deploying tear gas on the 1400 block of Michigan Street. Nearby residents are advised to stay inside their homes and close their windows.

*****08/17/17 4:40pm - Update on Michigan St. Incident*****

On Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 3:09 p.m. Fairfield Police Dispatch received a call a a disturbance inside a house in the 1400 block of Michigan Street.  As officers arrived they heard several gunshots from the area of the house.  A perimeter was quickly set up around the house, and officers were able to make telephone contact with the occupants.

Our Crisis Negotiation Team and S.W.A.T. team have been activated and are currently on scene.

This is an active incident and no further information is available at this time.  Information will be released as it comes available.
