Fairfield Police Respond to Two Separate Reports of Shootings Overnight

Fairfield Police responded to two separate and unrelated reports of shootings Saturday night.  The first incident was reported at 9:50 PM when two Fairfield residents were driving on eastbound Interstate 80.  As they were driving, they heard gunshots.  The victims did not see where the shots were coming from.  Both victims received non-life threatening injuries.  They were able to pull safely off of the freeway to Heath Drive and Pacific Ave, where they called police.  Both victims were taken to a local trauma center for treatment.  The shooting is currently under investigation.

The second incident began at 2:40 am Sunday morning when Fairfield Police received calls of shots being fired in the 1300 Block of Holiday Lane.  Witnesses gave a description of a suspect who fired a shot at a man.  Responding officers saw a man matching the description on the Travis Boulevard overpass.  When they stopped to talk to the man, he fled on foot.  While running from the officers the suspect attempted to throw items over the overpass.  Officers caught up to the man underneath the over pass and he was arrested following a brief struggle.  No gun was located.  The item he attempted to get rid of was a package containing approximately 8 grams of methamphetamine.  Officers were unable to locate any victims in the area of the original call.  The suspect, 26 year old Fairfield resident Eduardo Fuentes, was booked into Solano County Jail for possessing a controlled substance for sale, destroying evidence, resisting arrest, and violating his Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) terms.

Fairfield Police are investigating both incidents.  While close in geographic location, there is no evidence the two incidents are related at this time.  Anyone with information on either incident is asked to call the Fairfield Police Department at 707-428-7300.  You can also call our Tip Line at 707-428-7345, Solano CrimeStoppers at 707-644-7867, or Text “TIP FAIRFIELDPD” followed by your message to 888777.  Callers and texters can remain anonymous.
