PD needs help from the public to identify animal abuser...

Animal Abuse
Fairfield, California (Friday, September 29, 2017)

On Thursday, September 28, 2017, at 12:04 pm the Fairfield Police Dispatch Center received a report of an animal being abused in the alley south of the 800 block of Ohio Street, in Fairfield. Officers responded and learned from a witness that the injured dog had already been taken to a nearby animal shelter for treatment. The witness told officers that a short time earlier three males in their 20’s were standing around a dog that was chained by its collar to a nearby fence with only its rear legs able to touch the ground. One of the three men then swung a bat and struck the dog on the head.
Following the attack on the dog, the suspect and two accompanying men got into a gold 2004 or 2005 Chevy Tahoe and fled, possibly southbound on Jackson Street. The witness captured a partial vehicle license plate: “WB2V”. The suspect that hit the dog with a bat was described as an adult black male in his 20's with a thin build.
At the time of the report, the dog’s injuries were considered life-threatening. Today, officers were informed that the dog succumbed to its injuries.
We are asking for help from the public in identifying the suspect responsible for killing the dog, as well as in identifying the dog’s owner. Nobody present claimed ownership of the dog. The dog is a male tan Pit Bull with no license or chip, and is estimated to be four years old.
