Fatal Traffic Collision Investigation

The Fairfield Police Traffic Unit is investigating a fatal traffic collision that took place Saturday, December 2, 2017.  Dispatchers began receiving calls about a traffic collision in the area of Air Base Parkway and North Texas Street at 1:20 am.  Police and Fire Department personnel responded and located one vehicle, a dark colored Toyota Sienna, at the scene.  The driver had been ejected from the car and paramedics began lifesaving efforts on the driver.  Unfortunately the driver, a 27 year old Suisun City resident Luiz Carlos Diaz Medina, died from his injuries at the scene.

The Fairfield Police Traffic Unit and Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene to investigate.  Air Base Parkway was shut down until noon Saturday while investigators collected evidence and documented the scene.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.  The mini-van had been traveling westbound on Air Base Parkway, west of North Texas Street, lost control, and struck a tree.  It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs are a factor, and investigators are looking into reports that a second vehicle may have been involved and left the scene.
This is an active investigation and no additional details will be released at this time.

Anyone with information related to this collision is asked to call the Fairfield Police Traffic Unit at (707) 428-7524.
