**Update on Victim's Status*** Shooting On Waterman Bl Causes Three Vehicle Collision

***Update on victim's status***
The victim of Saturday's shooting on Waterman Bl is now being listed in critical but stable condition.  He is being identified as a 26-year old Fairfield resident.

Our investigation into the shooting is still ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.  We are continuing to ask that anyone who was involved in the collision that has not already spoken with Fairfield Police officers contact the Investigations Bureau at 707-428-7600 or the Tip Line at 707-428-7345.

Waterman Bl is now open in both directions and all freeway off ramps have reopened.

We are asking that anyone who may have been involved in the collision this afternoon, who have not already spoken with an officer, or anyone with information regarding the incident, contact the Investigations Bureau at 707-428-7600.

This is an active investigation and no further information will be released at this time.

On January 6th at 3:20 pm the Fairfield Police Department began receiving multiple phone calls regarding a three-car collision that had occurred in the area of Waterman Bl and Hilborn Rd.  As officers arrived on scene they located one victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and several others injured as a result of the collision.  The male suffering from gunshot wounds was transported to a local trauma center with life-threatening injuries.  His condition is unknown at this time.

From the initial investigation, it appears that two vehicles were traveling on Waterman Bl when the occupants of one vehicle began firing at a silver Honda Accord, striking the driver multiple times. The driver of the Honda lost control of his vehicle causing a multiple vehicle collision.  This is an active investigation and we are asking that anyone who saw the initial shooting incident or subsequent collision contact the Fairfield Police Department's Investigations Bureau at 707-428-7600.  You may also call the Tip Line at 707-428-7345, Solano CrimeStoppers at 707-644-7867, or text TIP FAIRFIELDPD along with your message to 888777.

More information will be released as it becomes available.  For now, the freeway exits from I-80 onto Airbase Pkwy and Waterman Bl are closed in both directions.  We are asking motorists to avoid the area while the investigation continues.
