The officers attempted to make a pedestrian stop on a suspect later identified as Christian Reyes, age 22 on Crowley Lane. As the officers approached Reyes, a brief foot chase began on Crowley Lane.

During the foot chase of Reyes, Detective Murray saw Reyes reaching for a handgun in his waistband. Several shots were fired by Detective Murray striking Reyes in the upper body. A replica firearm was recovered from Reye’s waistband immediately after the shooting.
