Calistoga Power Outage Update

The PG&E initiated power shutdown last evening was a result of a safety precaution based upon forecasted winds and wildfire conditions. There were recorded wind gusts up to 77 mph on Mount Saint Helena above Calistoga, gusts up to 50 mph on Tubbs Lane and gusts up to 29 mph in downtown Calistoga last evening. In addition to strong winds our area had relative humidity levels in the single digits which indicate tinder dry conditions.
Once the Red Flag warning is lifted all PG&E lines must be inspected before power can be restored. While the majority of customers within the city limits could be restored later this evening, there is the possibility that areas of unincorporated Calistoga may not have power restored for a longer period. We do not have any specific times.
This new PG&E initiated and State approved protocol was established for maximum safety of our communities. It is a critical safety measure. There is a strong likelihood that this may happen again in the future so please be prepared. We will continue to work with PG&E to improve upon this process to mitigate risk while reducing inconveniences to our community.
